(24-11-25) Text2Trait Trainathon (24 November)
Report: Text2Trait Trainathon (24 November)
On 24 November, we organised another Text2Trait Trainathon aimed at advancing community-driven literature curation and structured knowledge extraction for gene–trait and pathway discovery. The event brought together a mixed group of participants, including students, PhD candidates, and researchers, fostering cross-level exchange of expertise and perspectives.
During the trainathon, participants curated 16 scientific papers, with curation activities continuing beyond the event. A detailed and continuously updated overview of the curated literature and extracted knowledge is available via the HARVEST platform: www.text2trait.com/harvest
A key outcome of this trainathon was the introduction of an automated web-based curation platform, enabling curators to annotate and extract knowledge from literature anytime and anywhere, without needing to wait for a scheduled trainathon. This significantly lowers the barrier for sustained community contributions and supports continuous growth of the Text2Trait knowledge base. New curators who are interested in contributing can sign up directly via www.text2trait.com/harvest and will be invited to participate in the next in-person trainathon, ensuring both asynchronous engagement and hands-on community building.
To recognise contributions and encourage high-quality curation, Amazon vouchers were awarded to top curators based on their activity and annotation quality. Overall, this trainathon strengthened the Text2Trait ecosystem, expanded curated knowledge content, and marked an important step towards scalable, community-driven literature curation.
